Chance Bridge Law Firm has hired Li Ying as a senior consultant at its Beijing headquarters, strengthening its dispute resolution and corporate risk management practices.
Li brings 15 years of experience as a judge and eight years in handling litigation at major internet companies. Her main practice areas include civil and commercial litigation, commercial arbitration, intellectual property, corporate equity disputes, and contract and tort disputes.
Before joining Chance Bridge, Li served as head of litigation and legal research at Youku, part of Alibaba Group, and later as head of litigation at Douyin Group.
In 2019, Li was recognised in China Business Law Journal’s In-house Counsel Awards in the internet and e-commerce sectors.
Earlier in her career, Li worked in the court system, serving in the No. 3, No. 5 and No. 1 Civil Divisions and the Zhongguancun division of Beijing Haidian District People’s Court. She once served as deputy chief judge and chief judge of the Zhongguancun division and chief judge of the court’s No. 3 Civil Division.
She has led or participated in various prominent cases, including China’s first copyright case involving questions from the national college entrance examination, known as the Gaokao; prominent writer Han Han’s copyright infringement action against Baidu; and Kingsoft’s defamation case against Zhou Hongyi, co-founder and chair of rival company Qihoo 360.
Li’s experience spans both judicial decision making and corporate operations. She has long worked with corporate clients, and has extensive experience in dispute resolution, ongoing legal counsel and content risk management.
