Grandway Law Offices has hired Xu Wei, Zhu Ting and Yang Yu as partners, strengthening its capital markets and intellectual property practices. Xu has joined the firm’s Suzhou office, Zhu and Yang are at its Shanghai branch, and the relevant formalities are being completed.
Before joining Grandway, Xu was a senior partner at Kangda Law Firm’s Suzhou office. He previously served as a senior counsel at the Suzhou office of City Development Law Firm and as head of the innovative finance practice and a partner at Jiangsu-based Gold Group Law Firm.
Before entering private practice, he worked in the court system, serving as an assistant judge at Yandu District People’s Court of Yancheng, Jiangsu province, and later as deputy head of the No. 1 Civil Division of Kunshan People’s Court.
Xu focuses on securities and capital markets, dispute resolution, cross-border investment and M&A and tax-related legal services, with extensive experience in securities misrepresentation and insider-trading matters and providing full-service support for private fund manager registrations, material changes and fund filings. He has advised Chinese companies on outbound investment projects in South Korea, Singapore and Vietnam.
Earlier in his career, Zhu served as head of the IP department at Yingke Law Firm’s Jinhua office. He later joined Shanghai IP boutique Xinyi Law Firm, where he was executive director and a senior partner. He returned to Yingke in 2022 as deputy director of the Shanghai sub-centre of its Global Intellectual Property Service Centre and senior counsel.
Zhu has long focused on IP protection, and has experience in capital investment research and international IP operations.
His expertise includes corporate IP compliance and intangible asset management. He advises companies on cross-border operations, with clients mainly in new energy, industrial manufacturing, high-end equipment and cross-border e-commerce.
Yang has more than 25 years of legal experience. Prior to her move to Grandway, she joined the Shanghai headquarters of Watson & Band Law Offices in 2019, where she was a partner.
Earlier in her career, she served as a judge at Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People’s Court and Shanghai High People’s Court before joining legal technology company Jingyudian Network Technology as deputy general manager.
With backgrounds in both engineering and law, Yang holds a bachelor’s degree in precision instruments and mechanics and a master’s degree in civil and commercial law. Her practice covers contentious and non-contentious IP matters, particularly advice involving technical issues.
She has provided longstanding patent legal counsel and trade-secret compliance management services to various well-known companies, and has represented clients in numerous IP disputes involving patents, copyright, trademarks and unfair competition.
