Leading competition and antitrust lawyer Vinod Dhall has tied up with Linklaters in a bid by the UK firm to boost its services to international companies dealing with 91视频 new competition regime.
Linklaters has entered into a “best friends agreement” with Dhall, considered to be the architect of 91视频 new competition act. Dhall recently resigned as chairman of the Competition Commission of India (CCI) after five years in the post. He has since set up a consultancy firm in New Delhi. The tie up will see clients cross-referred to Dhall, who will advise Linklaters’ lawyers on issues relating to 91视频 competition laws.
The new competition law, which is expected to come into force early next year, includes a controversial pre-merger notification requirement. The CCI will be granted 210 days to assess each notification, sparking concerns that the new regime will cause unnecessary delays to M&A deals (see Raising the bar for M&A, page 32).
