Mori Hamada & Matsumoto has advised Japanese manufacturing company Unicharm on establishing a joint venture in Kenya with Toyota Tsusho Corporation and its group company CFAO Kenya.
The Sofy Unicharm East Africa joint venture will begin operations in September 2026, and strengthen the distribution of sanitary products and disposable diapers in the East African market.
The Mori Hamada team comprised Mori Hamada Singapore managing partner Matt Takeshi Komatsu, Tokyo-based partners Takaya Sato, Saori Takekoshi and Junichi Tsuji, and Singapore senior associate Yu Hiraoka.
Toyota Tsusho said it would leverage its logistics network owned by CFAO Kenya to access new markets.
Unicharm produces and sells disposable personal hygiene, household cleaning and pet care products.
