Arnold & Porter has strengthened its corporate and finance practice in South Korea with the appointment of Chee-Kwan Kim as a partner in its M&A team in Seoul.
Kim arrives from South Korean firm Yulchon, where he spent five years as a partner. Before that, he was a corporate partner at Lee & Ko for three years.
He brings nearly 20 years of experience in complex, high-value, cross-border M&A, private equity investments, dispositions, joint ventures and minority investments. Kim frequently advises Korean corporations and sponsors on strategic transactions, with a particular emphasis on outbound investments.
His expertise spans multiple sectors, including industrials, life sciences, cosmetics, consumer products and financial services.
James Lee, managing partner of Arnold & Porter’s Seoul office, said hiring Kim was a deliberate move.
“We were very intentional in bringing CK to Arnold & Porter. He is highly regarded in the Korean market and brings significant experience advising Korean corporations and private equity sponsors on sophisticated cross-border M&A transactions,” Lee told Asia Business Law Journal.
“His experience further strengthens our ability to support clients on increasingly complex outbound investments and complements the broader capabilities of our global corporate and finance team.”
